How to Install TWRP Recovery & Root Google Nexus 6P.

Nexus 6P is the latest android smartphone from Google and Huawei. The Nexus 6P comes with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Once you install a custom recovery, you can then flash the SuperSU package, in order to gain root access on your device. Before we begin you need an unlocked bootloader on your Nexus 6P.

Installing a custom recovery on Google Nexus 6P will wipe the stock recovery and replace it with a new one. By installing a custom recovery on your device and rooting it, you’ll void its warranty. I have tested the procedure on Google Nexus 5 successfully but still, you are warned to proceed unless you understand what you’re going to do. The procedure might soft-brick your device but you can easily recover it by installing the stock firmware back.


  • This method is only for Google Nexus 6P. Don’t try this on any other device.
  • Bootloader Should be Unlocked
  • Copy and Paste Downloaded recovery.img & Boot.img file to folder where you installed the adb.
  • Move the Super SU zip file on your Nexus 6P internal memory
  • Follow the steps correctly otherwise, you may brick your device. We are not responsible for any damage to your Android Phone.
  • You need either Laptop or PC.
  • Charge your phone to at least 70 - 80%.
  • Back up your device, just in case if you need it later.
  • Make sure you have followed the steps properly.

Follow these Simple Steps to Root and Install TWRP Google Nexus 5

Step 1 :- First enable the USB debugging option in Google Nexus 5.

  • To enable USB debugging option Go to your Settings >> About Phone >> now tap the build number 7-8 times until you see a message ‘you are now a developer’.
  • Now as we have enabled developer options, go back to Settings >> developer options >> and now enable USB debugging also enable OEM unlock.

Step 2 :-  Copy and Paste Downloaded recovery.img & boot.img file to folder where you installed the adb.

Step 3 :- Now connect your device to your PC using usb cable and go to folder where you installed the adb and press and hold shift then right-click on white space and Select "Open command window here".

Step 3 :- Now your device will reboot into fastboot mode. If it doesn’t, check if your USB cable is connected properly and you have drivers installed properly. You can check a list of connected device by typing the following command.
"fastboot devices"

Step 4:- Now Reboot your phone into fastboot mode by typing the following command.

"adb reboot bootloader"

Step 5:- Make sure your device has unlocked bootloader. If not, then you first need to unlock it and then flash the boot and recovery image to your system. To do this issue the following command. Choose yes on the device screen if prompted.

"fastboot oem unlock"

Step 6:- Now type following commands at command prompt to Flash the modified boot image.

"fastboot flash boot boot.img"  ( Downloaded File Name)

Step 6:- Now type following commands at command prompt to flash recovery

"fastboot  flash recovery recovery.img"  ( Downloaded File Name)

Step 7:- Now type following commands at command prompt to Reboot your device.

"fastboot reboot"

Guide to Root Google Nexus 6P

  • Download and move the file into internal storage of your Google Nexus 5.
  • Turn off and boot your device into TWRP Recovery by pressing and holding Volume up + Power key simultaneously.
  • In TWRP recovery menu tap on Install button.
  • Select file.
  • Swipe right to confirm the rooting process.
  • Reboot your Google Nexus 6P.
